ANNOUNCEMENT: Regarding the renaming of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development to the Center for E-commerce Development

Pursuant to Decision No. 2226/QD-BCT, effective September 11, 2026, the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development officially changed its name to the E-commerce Development Center, with the international trade name “Vietnam E-Commerce Development Center”, while the abbreviation remains eComDX. The Center's logo and slogan also remain unchanged.

The eComDX logo remains unchanged.

With the strong motto " Igniting minds, inspiring change ," reflecting determination and aspiration for advancement, eComDX aims to develop into a united team – a place that ignites thinking, awakens intellect, and promotes innovation, towards a common goal for the sustainable development of e-commerce in Vietnam.

Adapting to meet the demands of e-commerce development.

On September 18, 2026, the Director of the E-commerce Department issued Decision No. 02/QD-TMĐT stipulating the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the E-commerce Development Center.

According to the Decision, the Center is a revenue-generating public service unit, partially covering its operating costs, performing the function of assisting the Director of the E-commerce Department in organizing and implementing programs, projects, and activities supporting the development of e-commerce; conducting research, training, consulting, information, and communication; supporting the application of e-commerce and market development; and participating in the construction, management, and operation of information systems, databases, platforms, and technical infrastructure for e-commerce as assigned by the Director of the E-commerce Department.

In this context, the Center is tasked with implementing several key tasks, including:

  • Organize and implement programs and activities to support the development of e-commerce in localities, regions, and areas;
  • Organize or co-organize the annual National E-commerce Day and other programs, events, and activities to promote, connect supply and demand, advertise products, develop markets, and boost consumption through e-commerce;
  • Organize and implement activities to support the development of cross-border e-commerce;
  • To organize training, professional development, workshops, knowledge dissemination, and capacity building to enhance professional skills, expertise, and e-commerce application skills for organizations, businesses, cooperatives, household businesses, and individuals;
  • Providing consulting services and support for e-commerce applications, business model transformation, and market development.
  • Providing public service in the field of e-commerce and other services consistent with assigned functions and duties.
  • Consulting and training on the implementation of Criterion 7.3 on e-commerce.

Pursuant to Decision No. 2226/QD-BCT, effective September 11, 2026, the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development officially changed its name to the Center for E-commerce Development and Restructuring of Organizational Structure.

According to Decision No. 02/QD-TMDT, the E-commerce Development Center has 4 departments, including:

  1. Administrative and General Affairs Department;
  2. Training and Communications Department;
  3. E-commerce Development Department;
  4. Department of Infrastructure and Cross-Border E-commerce Development.

Associated with the new developments in e-commerce.

The renaming to the E-commerce Development Center – eComDX is not just a change in name, but also reflects a clearer definition of the Center's functions, tasks, and scope of activities in the new phase.

With its functions in research, training, consulting, information, communication, e-commerce application support, and market development, eComDX aims to play the role of a specialized focal point, a reliable partner, and a trusted collaborator for Departments of Industry and Trade, localities, businesses, cooperatives, and business households in implementing e-commerce development tasks.

In the coming period, eComDX will continue to play a connecting role between management agencies, localities, businesses, technology platforms, and markets; accompanying localities in building and implementing e-commerce development programs and projects; enhancing the capacity of businesses and the business community; promoting technology application, expanding markets, strengthening supply and demand connections, and developing cross-border e-commerce.

Through this, eComDX aims to make a practical contribution to making e-commerce a key driver of growth, business model innovation, and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses in the new era.
