Hai Phong will host a conference to enhance students' capacity in applying and developing e-commerce

Amidst the nationwide digital transformation, e-commerce continues to be identified as a pioneering sector, playing a crucial role in promoting the development of the digital economy and innovating the growth model. Enhancing the e-commerce application skills of young workers, especially students at educational institutions, is considered a vital task in preparing human resources to meet the demands of development in the new era.

According to the plan, on December 2nd, 2025, in Hai Phong city, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) will cooperate with Hai Phong University of Management and Technology to organize a training conference on "Enhancing the Application and Development of E-commerce". The conference is expected to be attended by representatives of state management agencies, the university's Board of Directors, faculty members, and a large number of students, thereby contributing to the dissemination of knowledge, raising awareness, and improving skills in e-commerce within the academic environment.

At the conference, the agenda is expected to focus on clarifying the role of e-commerce in the overall picture of Vietnam's digital economy. According to domestic and international reports, the digital economy in Southeast Asia is maintaining positive growth, with Vietnam being considered one of the markets with great potential thanks to its young population, high internet penetration rate, and rapid development of digital platforms.

Currently, social media users in Vietnam account for approximately 75% of the population, creating favorable conditions for the development of e-commerce models linked to digital content, platform-based commerce, and new forms of online business. The Vietnam E-commerce Index (EBI) shows that e-commerce is increasingly spreading to small and medium-sized enterprises, individual business households, and startup groups.

In this context, the conference is expected to help students better identify the opportunities and challenges of e-commerce, thereby shaping their entrepreneurial mindset and career orientation in line with the development trends of the digital economy.

One of the topics expected to be discussed at the conference is the development of infrastructure serving e-commerce, especially logistics and electronic payments. In recent years, the postal and delivery sector has recorded stable growth, with billions of parcels shipped annually, and e-commerce orders accounting for an increasingly large proportion.

Furthermore, the digital payment system in Vietnam continues to expand with the participation of many payment intermediaries, e-wallets, and cashless payment solutions. The deployment of Mobile Money and the promotion of digital payments are considered crucial factors in helping people, businesses, and young people easily access financial services in the digital environment.

Through this conference, students are expected to gain an overall understanding of the role of logistics and payment infrastructure in the e-commerce value chain, thereby better understanding how the modern e-commerce ecosystem operates.

According to the plan, the conference will dedicate time to analyzing the trend of shopping combined with entertainment (Shoppertainment) – one of the prominent trends in e-commerce today. Consumer behavior is clearly shifting as buyers increasingly prioritize accessing product information through short videos, livestreams, and highly interactive content.

Experts are expected to share insights on how digital platforms integrate in-person shopping into content, thereby shortening the journey from information access to purchase decisions. This is seen as an opportunity for new businesses, including students, to enter the market with lower entry costs compared to traditional models.

Students are expected to be guided through the basic steps of creating an online sales channel, selecting suitable products for market testing, and building a brand image and communication content that aligns with their target customer audience.

The training content at the conference is expected to focus on skills in building and optimizing short video content for e-commerce activities. According to experts, digital content is a crucial factor in determining customer reach and conversion rates on digital platforms.

Students are expected to be introduced to the principles of short video scriptwriting, from identifying consumer needs and crafting concise messages to illustrating with real-world experiences and appropriate calls to action. Maintaining a consistent posting frequency and diversifying content formats will also be emphasized to increase engagement and build long-term credibility for the sales channel.

Within the framework of the conference, affiliate marketing is expected to be introduced as a suitable method for students to participate in e-commerce, especially in the context of limited startup capital. By promoting products from reputable companies and businesses, students can generate additional income without needing large investments in goods and logistics.

However, the discussions will also emphasize the need for transparency and honesty in marketing activities, while reminding students to fully comply with the law and regulations of e-commerce platforms.

Another important topic expected to be addressed at the conference is the identification of common risks and violations in e-commerce. Experts will provide information and warnings about practices such as trading counterfeit goods, infringing intellectual property rights, falsifying information, and online fraud.

In particular, given that the draft of the new E-commerce Law is expected to strengthen regulations on livestreaming and affiliate marketing, students will be advised to proactively update their knowledge of legal regulations, fulfill their tax obligations, and ensure transparency in their online business activities.

Through this conference, the Organizing Committee hopes to contribute to raising awareness and equipping students with basic knowledge and skills in e-commerce, thereby supporting training institutions in linking teaching activities with the practical requirements of the labor market and the national digital economy development orientation.

The training conference "Enhancing the Application and Development of E-commerce" in Hai Phong is expected to be a practical activity, contributing to preparing a young workforce with competence, responsibility, and a sense of legal compliance, meeting the requirements of sustainable development of e-commerce and the digital economy in Vietnam in the coming time.
