E-commerce in Ca Mau is gradually taking shape and developing.
In recent years, along with the strong trend of digital transformation, e-commerce has become one of the important drivers of economic development, supporting businesses to access markets faster, wider, and at lower costs.

In his opening remarks at the conference, Mr. Duong Vu Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province, stated that e-commerce activities are gradually forming and developing in Ca Mau, especially in the fields of agricultural products, aquatic products, and OCOP products. However, alongside the positive results, Ca Mau still faces many difficulties and limitations, including a lack of understanding of legal regulations on e-commerce and related administrative procedures such as: notifying/registering websites with competent authorities, regulations on goods, tax declaration, regulations on handling and penalties, etc.

In light of this situation, and in implementing the Plan for the Development of E-commerce and Digital Transformation in Trade Promotion Activities in 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province, in coordination with the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development - Ministry of Industry and Trade, organized a conference to disseminate and promote e-commerce with the following objectives: to provide an overview and development trends of domestic and international e-commerce; to disseminate and guide businesses, cooperatives, and business households on legal regulations regarding e-commerce to ensure compliance with regulations, minimize violations and legal risks; and to provide specific guidance on procedures for notifying the Ministry of Industry and Trade about e-commerce websites selling goods and registering websites providing e-commerce services – a matter that many businesses have not yet fully and correctly implemented…
" When conducting business, whether online or offline, we must comply with legal regulations ," the Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade emphasized.
In addition, the conference will contribute to equipping participants with knowledge and skills to identify fraudulent and illegal activities on digital platforms, especially on social media and livestreams; and introduce the applications of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace.
With the participation and sharing of experienced experts and lecturers in the field of e-commerce, the leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province believe that, through the conference, participants will gain access to much practical and easy-to-understand knowledge that can be immediately applied to their work and business activities.
Enhancing the capacity to implement digital transformation effectively.
The focus of Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan's presentation - Director of eComDX - was on an overview of e-commerce in Vietnam, e-commerce trends, and an analysis of e-commerce operating models as stipulated in Decree 52/2013/ND-CP and Circular 47/2014/TT-BCT, as well as updates on the new points of Decree 85/2021/ND-CP.
Understanding the difficulties faced by businesses, cooperatives, and household businesses in Ca Mau due to a lack of familiarity with e-commerce regulations and related administrative procedures, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan provided specific guidance on the procedures for notifying e-commerce websites; some violations and administrative penalties related to e-commerce according to current regulations and the inspection, examination, and handling process in the e-commerce sector; and skills in identifying fraudulent methods, scams, and illegal activities in e-commerce.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan noted that some of the main violations in e-commerce relate to the procedures for notifying and registering e-commerce websites with the Ministry of Industry and Trade; issues of information provision; concluding contracts for using online ordering functions; falsifying information; and controlling information on e-commerce service websites...
At the conference, sharing insights on AI, Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc - Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam E-commerce Association - guided businesses, cooperatives, and household businesses in Ca Mau province on how to apply AI to increase efficiency by creating "AI sales staff"; connecting AI to platforms such as Zalo, Facebook, and TikTok; and practicing setting up AI in real-life scenarios. As a result, businesses, cooperatives, and household businesses have gained a better understanding and greater confidence in applying AI and accessing e-commerce.

The conference attracted considerable attention from numerous management agencies, businesses, cooperatives, and business households in Ca Mau province.
With its practical content, the conference provides an opportunity for management agencies, businesses, cooperatives, and business households in Ca Mau province to exchange ideas, learn, and improve their capacity to effectively implement digital transformation while complying with legal regulations; and at the same time, contribute to building a healthy, transparent, and safe e-commerce environment in Ca Mau.
